THE RANGELY ANIMAL SHELTER

Adopt a Wagging Tail!

Our mission

Our dictionary defines shelter as "a place of refuge"; to protect and house".  This is what the Rangely Animal Shelter strives to provide for all animals in our area that are in need of a place of refuge or protection.  Even though we are not a "no kill" shelter, the Rangely Animal Shelter has a large turnover for such a small town. We prides ourselves on adopting out ALL of our adoptable healthy pets in the last 2 years.  This is due to the hard and diligent work of our personnel arranging and finding home for the homeless pets.

About us

The Rangely Animal Shelter is located at 407 1/2 Bronco Rd.  To view animals for adoption or claim, we are open 7 days a week from 8:00-10:00 a.m.  The phone number is 970-675-2803.  If there is no answer, please leave us a message and we will return your call promptly.  The Animal Control/Code Enforcement Officer can be reached at the Rangely Police Department at 675-8467, for animal calls Monday-Friday during normal business hours.  On weekends and after hours please call 629-1314, 675-8320, or 675-2320 for assistance.  Dog licenses are free and can be obtained at the Police Department.

Rangely Animal Shelter brochures are available at the Rangely Police Department, Chamber of Commerce office, and the Rangely Town Hall.

Our shelter personnel are trained in many areas, offering specialized handling of animals (including the latest iguana that came in), and administering essential daily maintenance in the upkeep of the shelter- inside and out.  Should your pet be picked up or turned into the Police Department, they are taken to the shelter and provided with clean kennels, food, water, and loving care until they are either claimed or adopted.  Shelter personnel will gladly meet with anyone, almost at any time to show our animals.

If you are searching for that special animal companion, come by or call the shelter and see who is waiting for you.  If you are not able to have a pet but have a soft spot in your heart for animals and you would like to help the shelter, please consider a donation.  We are always in need of foster homes if you are able to help in this way.  There are many ways to help and any one of them will make your heart feel good!
